Overview
Since its debut in 1964, Mustang has proven to be one of the most versatile cars in racing history, with success in sportscar racing, stock car racing, drag racing, rallying and drifting. With the Mustang GT3, that heritage has been taken onto the global GT3 stage as Ford’s sports car racing platform.
Built for GT3 competition by Multimatic Motorsports and Ford Racing, the Ford Mustang GT3 race car features bespoke short-long arm suspension, Multimatic DSSV dampers, a rear-mounted six-speed transaxle gearbox, carbon fibre body panels and a unique aerodynamic package developed to meet GT3 targets. It is powered by a 5.4-litre Coyote-based V8 engine, developed by Ford Racing and built by M-Sport.
The Mustang GT3 has evolved since its 2024 competition debut, with the latest development package focused on aerodynamics, kinematics and braking. Updates, including new dive planes, revised front and rear aerodynamic surfaces, refined suspension behaviour and Brembo braking hardware, are designed to improve downforce, efficiency, stability, braking performance and overall drivability across different circuits, tyre compounds and race formats.
Development of the Mustang GT3 has always focused on creating an affordable, durable race car that is simple to maintain and run by customer teams. It is vitally important that a GT3 car is easy to drive for amateur racers, as it is often the stint by the FIA Bronze-rated driver that will make or break the result in Pro-Am racing. With strong factory support, customers who choose to race the Mustang GT3 have a car capable of delivering consistent performance from the beginning of a stint to the end.
The Ford Mustang GT3 took its first blue riband race win at the 2025 Rolex 24 at Daytona, proving its endurance credentials. It is a regular race winner in multiple championships across the globe, in the hands of both the factory and customer teams.
