Multimatic rolls its Mustangs into Snetterton for home battle

Greatworth Park, UK (May 15th, 2019) – The next stop for the British GT Championship is Snetterton in Norfolk, just a few miles from Multimatic’s European Technical Centre in Thetford.  After making a winning start to the season at Oulton Park, the Multimatic Motorsports team is under pressure to perform in front of a home crowd.

The Ford Mustang GT4s will receive an extra cheer this weekend as many of Multimatic’s UK-based staff will head over to Snetterton to support the team as it fights for GT4 glory in Sunday’s two one-hour races.

Multimatic President, Raj Nair, said: “Our British GT programme got off to a great start at Oulton Park over the Easter weekend and now we need to keep that positive momentum going.  The Ford Mustang GT4 is a great race car, as we have proved in North America. Now we want to prove it all over again in Europe and I have every faith that our team will get the job done.”

The #15 Multimatic Mustang will be raced by full season regulars, Seb Priaulx (GB) and Scott Maxwell (CAN) who currently sit in joint first place in the GT4 Drivers’ Championship standings.

“I think Snetterton will suit the Mustang and I’ve been quick there in the past,” said Priaulx. “We’ve got a bit of extra weight for this weekend and an extra 10 seconds added to our pit stop for Race 1 (success penalty for winning at Oulton Park) so that’s going to be tough for us. We hope to get a good starting position and grab as many points as possible!”

The #19 Mustang, which features guest drivers at each round, will be raced by Ben Devlin and Alistair MacKinnon at Snetterton. Best-known for being a long-time Mazda prototype racer, Devlin’s relationship with Multimatic goes back a long way, all the way back to his first year of racing in a Lotus. He is also the landlord of the ‘Ox and Plough’ at Old Buckenham, just up the road from Snetterton, much to the delight of the race team!

Qualifying for the GT4 class gets underway at Snetterton shortly after 16:15 on Saturday. The two one-hour races take place on Sunday, starting at 11:10 and 15:25 and you can catch all of the action live on britishgt.com. (All times British Summer Time)
