Multimatic Motorsports and the Ford Racing Mustang Boss 302R are back for 2011!

MARKHAM, ON (January 20th, 2011) Multimatic Motorsports is returning for another season of the Grand-Am Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge with the Ford Racing Mustang Boss 302R. As Ford Racing’s official partner, Multimatic Motorsports is looking to continue their solid development work and promising results, despite their disappointing 2010 season.

The Ford Racing Mustang Boss 302R showed great potential right out of the box. Pole positions at Barber Motorsports Park, Virginia International Raceway and Trois-Rivières demonstrated the raw speed of the new Boss 302R race car. However, teething reliability and cooling issues prevented the team from securing podium finishes in the races. Multimatic Motorsports and Ford Racing put in a lot of development work and testing throughout the latter part of the season, which started to pay off with a fourth place finish at the season ending Miller Motorsports Park race in Salt Lake City.

Multimatic Motorsports continued development of the Mustang Boss 302R during the off season. Sean Mason, Team Manager said, “We have continued development of the car in areas such as engine electronics and cooling, so reliability as a whole. Grand-Am is allowing us a new final drive ratio that will use our engine revs more, but only if the electronics work. Grand-Am also gave us permission to use an already-existing aftermarket rear wing. We hope to be more competitive in the longer runs, and bring back

Multimatic Motorsports to the podium of the Grand-Am Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge where it belongs.” Multimatic Motorsports and the Ford Racing Mustang Boss 302R will be at the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge’s first race at Daytona International Speedway January 27th to 28th. Drivers Scott Maxwell and Joe Foster return to pilot the #15 car, and will look for a points finish to begin the 10-round Grand-Am season.
