2019

The final three races of the FIA World Endurance Championship “Superseason” began at Sebring in March 2019 where the Ford GT took a strong podium finish.

The Ford WEC programme finale took place at Le Mans that June and the Multimatic-run #67 car was the top finishing Ford GT in fourth place after 24 hours of gruelling racing, bringing the chequered flag down on a memorable campaign. Over four years the two WEC Ford GTs and the two IMSA cars notched up 48 podium finishes and 19 race victories.

In the summer of 2019 the long anticipated breakthrough came for the Multimatic designed and built Mazda RT24-P, now being race engineered by Multimatic in addition to the performance support that had been ongoing since the programme’s inception. Victory at Watkins Glen in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship six hour enduro, was immediately followed by consecutive wins at Mosport (CTMP) and Road America, claiming an incredible hat trick during the “Mazda Summer”.

The Ford Mustang GT4 made its European debut in 2019, entered in the British GT Championship by Multimatic Motorsports. The #15 car took its first win of the year at the season opening race at Oulton Park in the hands of Sebastian Priaulx and Scott Maxwell. They won again at Donington later in the year and finished as championship runners-up by a narrow margin. The #19 Mustang saw action from a series of special guest drivers including Sir Chris Hoy, Andy Priaulx, Billy Johnson, Jade Buford, Jack Roush Jr and a number of others. The team also ran the Mustang GT4 in selected rounds of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship where Sebastian Priaulx celebrated his US racing debut by winning the season finale race at Road Atlanta alongside NASCAR star Austin Cindric.
