Marino Franchitti has spent the majority of his career racing in sports cars and GTs, with a career highlight of winning the 2014 12 Hours of Sebring.
Born in Bathgate, West Lothian, Scotland, Franchitti began his career in the mid/late ’90s, initially finding his feet in Formula Ford 1600 before moving on to Formula Vauxhall in 1998.
Marino began racing sports cars in 2001, winning British GT Championship’s GTO category that year. He joined his brother Dario in America in 2002, and drove in Grand Am and the American Le Mans Series, winning 1 race in the LMP 675 class.
Since then, Marino has driven with Scuderia Ecosse (Ferrari 360, FIA GT) and Panoz (Esperante GTLM, GT2), and Andretti Green Racing (Acura LMP2, ALMS P2), Dyson Racing (Porsche RS Spyder and Lola B09/86, ALMS P2), Highcroft Racing (HPD ARX-01 and DeltaWing, ALMS P2), and Level 5 (HPD ARX-01 and ARX-03b, ALMS P2).
During this time, Marino has competed in the Daytona and Le Mans 24hr races, and the Sebring 12hr.
